For the last four years, he is relentlessly engaged in the revival of fast languishing tribal art providing livelihood to the downtrodden women painters. He has now resolved to explore and create a series of transformative Neo-abstraction series of his recent artworks genuinely inspired by the indigenous tradition which is being revived by his AAYAM ngo. An exhibition showcasing both is being planned at the international level.. His abstraction paintings and murals have never been inspired by post cubism European art as he thinks that there is an exhaustible treasure of spontaneous and effortless abstraction in our folk and tribal art to seek inspiration and transform the same creatively awarding contemporary relevance to our spectacular tradition both in the sphere of art and design
2D multi medium Creations – The Multifaceted Mehta leaped through several art genres yet never abandoning the roots of his descent Dr Mehta has always been very close to his own culture, and so he looked to the living folk and tribal art for inspiration Dr. Mehta is renowned for his oils and batik art which portrays various elements of village life. Puppeteers, women, animal riders, rustic folk, marriages, fairs, etc, with organic batik cracks in the background reflect a strong connect to the soil of Rajasthan. Dr. Chinmay Mehta’s oeuvre if attempted to define simply is a creative outburst of what he imbibed from his heritage. This outburst took varied forms as his life progressed, He is a painter expressing in various mediums, stretching ideas to take up forms of murals and reliefs and finally catapulting the designs into real life buildings. Most of his early works are a throwback to his childhood, inviting the viewer on a walk through the humble village life that he grew up inhaling. These early works exude an aura of earthiness that resonates with the purity and serenity of a rustic ambience. Charles Fabri, an eminent British-origin art critic, has called this painting as rooted in the ‘Post Yamini-Roy’ style.
