This impacts a sense of spatial design – placing below and above, overlapping, rhythmically alternating directional planes, juxtaposing different eye levels and viewpoints, converging and diverging lines and planes, formal exaggeration, element of transparency, and sectional views, and combining interior and exterior views/scenes. His paintings and murals depict a certain resonance that regains from modern arts while borrowing from shared culture and language, experience, and iconography. One sees an exciting blend of two approaches in his work: internationalist modernism and a search for cultural sensitivity in art practice. Through involvement in visual arts, writing, academics, creating murals integrated with architecture, he has broken out of the narrow limits of high art and is very successful in creating varied modes of cultural production. All his design projects have been widely acclaimed and featured in print and electronic media. Many filmmakers and event managers have used the dhanis as backdrops for song sequences. Similarly, students of architecture engage with the dhani architecture as a case study for academic research projects. His deep understanding of the materials and techniques aids him in sculpting a vision of a simple ethnic lifestyle that has become the envy of most Indians these days Dr. Chinmay Mehta’s work at times suggests the life force of where he belongs and at others represent the perplexing theories his mind creates. It is his perpetual thinker who never allows him to be content with one kind of artwork continuing for too long. His changing styles of artworks are a reflection of his ever-searching mind and ever exploring trend of his creative journey move from black and white drawings and paintings in tempera. There is a kind of spiritual abstraction that resonates in his artworks that remains undefined and unexplained even after elaborate interpretations. The simplicity of his forms carries complex meaning underneath. It seems there is a person who never appears to be content with any task of a routine kind. He will keep on experimenting with multiple mediums and alternative ways of rarity and distinction exploring breakthrough ideas and processes that have always asserted his identity too special and different from all his contemporaries. At times, his diverse involvements may be taken as his biggest drawback but immediately one will realize that it is his most significant and a complementary asset for which he has been admired time and again. It is because this rare combination has survived and sustained in all fluctuating situations and vicissitudes that all celebrities have to face.

He competently explores the qualities of the indigenous traditions, tapping into its quiescent potential and combining it with contemporary aspirations while smoothly analyzing the dichotomy of time and space. From semi-abstract figurative forms, Mehta moved to indigenous abstraction flowing with the multiple mediums that he has experimented with, the proactive impulses working in a place and exercising absolute control over his multifaceted artistic excellence. He relentlessly also searched for his contemporary idiom of expression innovating nuances of forms and configurations through new mediums and techniques. The art sensibility of Chinmay Mehta sensitively feels about this very aesthetic dynamism against the background of conventions. Art traces the unachievable reality, which is far beyond physical appearances. We are talking about art that has traced a history of turning thought into a state of aesthetic quality (as real as you and me). A contemporary stream of unlimited consciousness takes too tough a toil to be represented on the finite parameters and concepts of canvases. So long, and so old, art has symbolized every bit of reality and abstraction, transforming and building voids for new ideas, visions, mediums, languages, and idioms, breaking all the conservative practices of styles.
